The Senior Accountant – Gift Cards Accounting position will support the manager to ensure that gift card accounting policies are executed in compliance with US GAAP and documented with appropriate governance, controls, segregation of duties. This role will support the vision for the Technical Franchise Revenue & Gift Card Accounting department by executing and documenting the gift card accounting lifecycle with a focus on efficiency, automation, and standardization. Duties will include completing journal entries, analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, performing financial analyses, reviewing expense accruals, and performing research.

The successful candidate will be action-oriented with a blend of both technical and operational accounting experience and will seek to build strong relationships with and deliver superior service to all key stakeholders.
 

This position sits within our Atlanta based Global Support Center with an expectation to be onsite 80% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the month and quarter end closing of the general ledger by preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, memos, and analyses for assigned areas.  Research and clear all reconciling items in a timely manner. Review and analyze transaction level detail to ensure completeness and accuracy in accounts. Assist in the research and determination of how to account for transactions, which may include review of contracts, research of technical literature, and development of proposals for accounting treatment in compliance with US GAAP
  • Ensure automated entries generated by our transaction matching tool (ARCS) operate as designed by analyzing outputs, investigating exceptions, and validating data integrity to support of month‑end close and internal controls
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency of the monthly and quarterly close process while maintaining strong internal controls
  • Assist in the interim and annual audit process with internal and external auditors by preparing and reviewing audit deliverables and financial statement disclosure support
  • Set an example by maintaining excellent working knowledge and produce high quality documentation. Help train and coach staff accountants on company accounting policies/procedures and assist the Manager in reviewing accountants work each period to ensure they are in compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Participate in meetings to review results with accounting leadership, Finance, Treasury, or other cross-functional partners. Develop and maintain relationships with key operations team members and provide support as required
  • Maintain financial internal controls in performance of assigned processes to maintain accuracy and reliability of financial information to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with and support the Technical Franchise Revenue accounting team as business needs evolve
  • Handle unusual accounting transactions with little or no supervision and recommend solutions when confronted with opportunities. Ensure flexibility to assist with ad hoc projects and analysis as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 Year Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant or CPA candidate preferred 
  • 3-7 years accounting experience
  • Prior accounting experience with ERP financial systems

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, or ABILITIES

  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently and produce accurate results, meet the deadlines assigned, and make sound decisions
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, fast growing company environment where adaptability is imperative
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • A desire to work with and communicate with management with a high level of personal confidence and professionalism
  • Command of accounting principles and procedures necessary for maintaining proper company books and records to ensure accurate accounting in accordance with US GAAP
  • Advanced in Microsoft EXCEL, word processing, and advanced applications knowledge in a Windows PC environment
