The Manager, Product Commercialization is responsible for transforming brand innovation recipes and products into commercialized plant-capable production protocols. The Manager works closely with supplier plants to help develop the products to meet brand specifications on quality and cost. The Manager evaluates current products and proposes modifications to brand innovation teams to improve quality and/or lower cost.  

This position sits within our Atlanta based Global Support Center with an expectation to be onsite 80% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to day activities

  • Project management, tracking and weekly updates
  • Weekly project meetings with key stakeholders (marketing, culinary and supply chain)
  • Managing BME cuttings for new items 
  • Attending production runs through the commercialization process 
  • Providing weekly project updates to key stakeholders

Oversee suppliers on the development of new products to meet brand specifications on quality and cost 

  • Meet with suppliers to understand each’s capability in core areas (e.g. Chicken, Beef, Pork, Sauces, etc.), and provide information about these capabilities to brand innovation teams 
  • Assist suppliers in commercialization of products and establishing processing equipment, equipment settings, and Production Protocols 
  • Complete Commercialization Report that captures all production details, analytical data, product dispositions, and corrective actions for reporting to QA and brand innovation teams
  • Facilitate product cuttings with QA and innovation teams to ensure product meets expectations based on marketing briefs and specifications 

Evaluate current products to meet brand specifications on quality and cost

  • Routinely meet with key suppliers to discuss opportunities to reduce cost and/or improve quality on existing products 
  • Develop, track, and advocate for value-added ideas on existing products 

Other duties as assigned by management

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Meat Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Biology or related field  
  • MS in Meat Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Biology or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of food product development, commercialization, and quality assurance 
  • Food manufacturing experience required  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES

  • Understanding of food manufacturing for multiple product categories with in-depth understanding of food safety and statistical process control.  
  • Experience in matching & commercializing products to existing brand standards 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
