The Manager, Traceability is responsible for owning and enforcing all traceability requirements throughout the supply chain. This role will lead the organization in the implementation and ongoing compliance with the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Section 204 Traceability Rule. The Manager will continuously monitor and evaluate the company’s traceability programs and lead the assessment, recommendation, and implementation of new technologies to enhance traceability as needed. In addition, this role will have primary responsibility for leading product recall and withdrawal management across all brands and for implementing a continuous improvement strategy in these areas. 

This position sits within our Atlanta based Global Support Center with an expectation to be onsite 80% of the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure full compliance with FSMA Section 204 Traceability Rule across the organization. 
  • Develop, enforce, and maintain traceability policies and procedures throughout the supply chain. 
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the implementation and compliance of traceability and recall processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of current traceability and recall programs and systems.  
  • Develop and report on traceability KPIs and assess the overall health of the company's traceability program. Drive advancement of traceability techniques through innovative analytical initiatives. 
  • Cultivate education initiatives to improve supplier and distributor compliance.   
  • Participate in industry association and standards meetings, contributing subject matter expertise to shape traceability practices. Conduct supplier visits to support and strengthen the company’s traceability program 
  • Serve as the primary leader in managing product recalls and withdrawals across all brands, ensuring timely and effective execution. 
  • Design and implement strategies for continuous improvement of recall readiness and response. 
  • Identify, assess, and implement emerging technologies and tools to improve traceability and data integrity. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits related to traceability and recall management. 
  • Provide training and support to internal stakeholders to promote traceability, recall awareness and regulatory compliance. 
  • Collaborate with suppliers, partners, and customers to ensure alignment and adherence to traceability and recall standards. 
  • Monitor regulatory and industry activity for global crisis and emerging issues that impacts or potentially impacts Inspire Brands and escalate concerns to quality leadership as necessary.   
  • Perform annual mock recalls across brands to ensure compliance with Inspire Brands’ expectations and address any identified non-compliances 
  • Perform other related duties, tasks, and projects as assigned. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

  • BS in Public Health, Meat Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Biology or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of food safety and quality assurance. 
  • Subject Matter Expertise in food traceability, GS1 Standards, and/or master data systems.  
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES

  • Multiyear experience in managing effectively the above listed areas of responsibility 
  • In-depth understanding of assigned category  
  • A strong understanding of food manufacturing for multiple product categories with in-depth understanding of food safety and statistical process control.  
  • Proven experience effectively leading cross-functional project teams.  
  • Strong understanding of Federal food safety regulations  
  • In-depth understanding of Global Food Safety Initiative Audit Schemes 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail  
  • People and results oriented 
  • Bottom line management skills and strategic thinker  
  • Excellent presentation, and oratory skills
